Desiring a classic yet fun summertime look? Then look no further than the collared shirt. I know you may be sick of me referencing collar shirts, but they truly do nail a look and complete a wardrobe which is why they're my favorite and I love wearing them, but I promise to pipe down lol.
As my closet can attest, it's a little hard for me to resist the urge to buy a nice white collared shirt. When I'm in stores, I have to make a conscience effort not to buy things I don't need because shopping addictions are real, folks, and I don't need that in my life. However, everyone should have at least one or two in their wardrobe.
Collared shirts come in so many different patterns and styles to choose. When looking for collared shirts, I suggest looking for shirts with cotton fabric because they're not only going to last longer, fit better, but they're overall better for your skin. My other favorite fabrics are linen and silk. Earlier this year, my husband picked out and surprised me with the outfits below of pink (my favorite color) shirts and white shorts. One is a collar t-shirt and the other is a button-down shirt. The collar just takes the outfits to another level of class, right? They look fun yet classy. My husband really did good in nailing my style. I was very surprised and happy.
Another way to incorporate collar shirts into your summer wardrobe is wearing a button-down collar shirt over a fitted tee, a trendy corset top, crop top, or even a bodysuit/shirt.
Because it's hot, you want to look for a shirt in lightweight cotton fabric. Bright colors and/or short sleeves will help keep you cool. You can also simply roll the sleeves on a long-sleeved collared shirt from your winter collection if it's not too heavy. Below I paired a blue button-up collared shirt with a white skirt I've had for years and a multicolor striped corset top. I rolled the sleeves and slipped on a pair of sandals to complete the summer look. I did the same for the green striped collared shirt and paired it with a simple white cotton dress underneath. It's just that simple!
