Upgrading Your Outfits

Many people think it takes so much money to dress nice, but regardless of budget, you should always be able to put together a cute and classy outfit from your closet. From a teen, I’ve always had people ask if I had a personal stylist because of the way I dressed, but I’ve simply always loved fashion. Growing up, I remember the days of running to the mailbox with so much excitement to read the latest teen fashion magazines I was subscribed to and the love I had for my first job which was in retail. It was such a fulfillment putting together stylish outfits for myself and customers. In high school, my go to’s were collar shirts esp. crisp white button-downs and even today, they’re still my go to. My style hasn’t changed much and hasn’t had to. I think the only difference is I no longer use my button-down shirts as open overshirts. I’ve upgraded to blazers now lol.

Thinking over my outfits and what makes a good outfit come together, I think the main component of any nice outfit is how it fits and the shoes. Shoes have the capability of making an outfit simply work, fail, or be epic. I’ve had instances where I could be wearing the same outfit as another yet mine will pop just a little more strictly because of the shoes. I think there’s 4 pair of shoes that every woman should have in her closet. I’ve picked out a few of my favorites below.

1.Ankle Boots or Mid-Calf Boots– If you don’t have funds for multiple pairs of boots, I think you should opt for a pair of ankle boots. Knee-high boots don’t always work with non-tapered jeans and this is especially important now that skinny jeans aren’t currently trending. Ankle boots work across the board for you whether you’re wearing skinny jeans, wide-leg jeans, skirts, or even dresses. Here’s a few pairs, I’ve picked out. You can try this brown pair.

For older women, these Dr. Scholl’s are comfortable yet stylish.

For younger women, these black boots which can also be worn in the rain or these black boots which are in a higher price range.

2. Loafer, Mule, or Slip on -Loafer, mules, or a slip-on shoe can work multiple ways; making you look professional, stylish, or even casual if that’s what you’re going for. Whichever look you’re going for, they help you get there. Try these Black Mules, Wedge mules, or Slip on shoes.

3. A Pair of Blue Shoes- When you think about it, most of your jeans are blue, so it makes sense to have blue shoes, right? I think everyone should have a pair because it takes your blue jeans to another level. Check out these blue dotted rain boots or these solid blue rain boots.

These blue wedge pumps are my absolute favorite because of the low heel. They’re closed toe which means you can wear them Spring, Summer, and into late Fall and I also love how amazing they look with jeans. Here’s some at a lower price point. For younger women, opt for a blue loafer or these. These navy Birkenstock are cute for summer. Here are some look-a-likes. They both come in a variety of colors. Always check your closet to see the majority color.

4. Sneakers — If you’re on a budget, you should pick sneakers that can also work across the board with jeans and dresses. these sneakers which include the stan smiths come in a variety of designs and look-a-likes which can be found in just about every store including popular stores like Old Navy and Target. Here’s a few pair of cute Tommy Hilger shoes or the classics or classics number 2.
