South of Atlanta Faves (Part 1)

Southside of Atlanta Restaurants

Living on the South side of Atlanta doesn’t offer as many dining options as living in the city or on the North side of town, but here is a quick list of good eats found right here in our own backyard; the south side of Atlanta. Happy Eating!

Italian Oven ( Stockbridge, GA ) -Not gonna lie, I visit this place weekly. I love their food, freshness, consistency, timeliness, and customer service. Favorite Dish: Chicken Alfredo Soup, Table Bread, Potato Encrusted White Fish (also love the dipping sauce that comes with the fish), Chicken Parmesan, Tuscan Bruschetta, Fried Zucchini, Italian Chicken Wings, Mediterranean Pizza with no feta cheese, and the Caramel Vanilla Crunch Cake

Bombay Bites ( McDonough, GA ) Another weekly favorite! In my opinion, this place has the best Indian food in McDonough, GA. When the buffet sampler bar was open, I liked everything on it, I miss it- but there’s still Covid so… Favorite Dish: Vegetable Samosa, Garlic Naan, Mixed Veggie Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry Mild, Butter Chicken, Lamb curry, Mango Lassie (Drink).

Bonzu Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar ( McDonough, GA ) Favorite Dish: Fried Rice, Tempura Vegetables, Spicy Salmon Tempura Roll, Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll

Tony’s at Brentwood ( Stockbridge, GA ) Serves up that authentic New York style pizza taste. Favorite Dish: Extra Large New York Style Cheese Pizza.

Miyako Japanese Sushi & Steakhouse ( McDonough, GA ) Favorite Dish: Hibachi Chicken Lunch comes with Miyako soup (Absolutely love the soup), Green ginger salad (the sweet dressing is bomb), Mixed Vegetables with white or fried rice (extra charge for fried).

Red Orchid Thai ( McDonough, GA ) Favorite Dish: Thai Spring Rolls, Thai Fried Rice, Thai Wings, Thai Basil Fried Rice, Basil Duck, 3 flavors Red Snapper, Ka Proud Lamb. I didn’t like their version of the Drunken Noodle. With all this fried food, I only eat here once or twice a month.

Lovin’ Oven Pizzeria ( Locust Grove, GA ) I don’t recall it being named Lovin Oven but I guess it is. Hopefully this is the right pizza joint. Favorite Dish: NY style Large Cheese Pizza and Large Veggie Pizza. I love that their veggie pizza has fresh spinach and green & black olives on it which really makes it stand above the well known pizza places in my book.

Papi’s Cuban & Caribbean Grill ( Stockbridge, GA ) Favorite Dish: Both their chicken and beef empanadas are really good, the Empanada Sampler allows you to try both, I love it with the dipping sauce, My last visit which was last week, the Steak sandwich was really lacking (in looks and taste) but it was once one of my favorites. The Arroz Chicken tasted different last week as well, it had a lot of red sauce but less seasoning. Honestly, we must keep in mind restaurants are not only short on staff but have also have changes in their cooks and ingredients in dishes to save money… I will have to visit again to see if it was merely an off day.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my favorites…
