Flower Power Monday Post 17
This weekend was a “Netflix & chill” type of weekend. I snuggled with hubby all day which felt really good as we rarely use the entire day to lay around in each other’s arms and watch movies. There’s always something that at least one of us wants to do. The weather was breezy and cold in GA. The temperatures dropped to the low 20’s. Some of my in-ground hydrangeas’ new growth look as if it didn’t make it. My aloe doesn’t look like it made it. With the wind factor, unfortunate for me, a part of my roof didn’t make it either, so we have a guy coming out today to tell us what’s the damage financially. It shouldn’t be no more than a few hundred dollars, but you never know. And yes, the part that’s hanging off, fell the following night of this picture.
Moving on because I’m here to give you power not drain it lol. Today’s flower to give you power is the lovely Hyacinth. When my daughter (18) and son (14) went to the store together last week, I had no clue they would come back with so many plants. I saw just how much I’m rubbing off on them lol. My daughter saw the hyacinth and just had to have it. She loved its blue hue and also thought it would make a great addition to her blue room. She said when she purchased it, it was blue, but when she got it home, it was def purple. Reading up on them, it says the blue hyacinth changes from mid-blue to bluish purple which was similar to a deep blue Endless Summer hydrangea I had (have). I will post that in next week’s Flower Power Monday.
All I can say is, the hyacinth did not even last the first night in my daughter’s room. She took it out because the scent was soo strong. Don’t get me wrong, the plant smells really good, but can become overbearing and I think that’s what happened even though her bedroom is large. The plant saturated her room so much until I was able to get up the next morning and still follow the scent right to her room and that’s even after she removed it the night before LOL. She placed it in the upstairs hall, but I couldn’t iron their clothes in the hall that morning because it was just too strong, so I removed it and just put it in a vacant flowerpot in the guest room where it remains today (hahaha). My son bought yellow pansies because he said when he first saw them, they made him so happy. My daughter loves yellow so she picked up her a few of them for herself as well. My daughter also purchased some grape hyacinth which are the flowers in the middle of the basket pictured below. I was so proud to see their interest in flowers even when I wasn’t around. Just goes to show, kids are def watching and mimicking rather good or bad, so let’s make sure we, as parents, always give them good examples to follow. Happy Monday, guys!
