EMPOWERMENT

A Time to Pray

Before I start this post, I’d like to send my deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones during the Texas school shooting last week and the shootings that happened over the weekend at the Freaknik Music Festival in Georgia and another festival held in Oklahoma. There was also a boating accident in Georgia that killed 5 people. It is all such a tragedy. My heart and prayers go out to all the families and the United States as a whole. It is time for us to truly come together and pray for this country! Countless lives are being lost and it may seem hopeless, but against hope, we are encouraged to believe in hope. With that said, besides praying for this nation, we should also reach out to loved ones and simply check on them. Check on the health and well-being of those not only in your inner circle, but also those whom you have contact with. We must get out of the selfish mentality of only worrying about ourselves that is beginning to rule this country. We must begin to account and care for one another again. If God places someone on your heart and mind, offer up prayers on their behalf, then reach out and check on them. If you see someone you know acting different, i.e., an outgoing person that has suddenly gone quiet or someone that always call you, but has suddenly stopped, then ask and see if they’re ok. You can make a difference and an impact just by showing you care. Small parts can equal out to be big parts in someone’s life. I ask everyone to do their part in making this world a better place.

I close this post with 1 Corinthians 13: If I had the gift of being able to speak in other languages without learning them and could speak in every language there is in all of heaven and earth, but didn’t love others, I would only be making noise. If I had the gift of prophecy and knew all about what was going to happen in the future, knew everything about everything, but didn’t love others, what good would it do? Even if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, I would still be worth nothing at all without love. If I gave everything I have to poor people, and if I were burned alive for preaching the Gospel but didn’t love others, it would be of no value whatsoever.

Peace and Love,

Karen
